Society of 1895

In 1895, 30 men and women composed the first class of Fairmount College in Wichita, Kansas. They, along with the faculty and founders of this college, served as the firm foundation from which the University of Wichita emerged, and now, Wichita State University. The Society of 1895 draws its name from this proud legacy and honors those alumni and friends who have included a gift to Wichita State in their estate plans through a designation in their will, trust, life insurance, retirement plan, or gift annuity. In doing so, these supporters express their confidence in the future of WSU, ensure that their gifts are used according to their wishes, and secure their own legacy in the history of the university. Today, more than 625 alumni and friends of WSU have shared with us their plans for a future gift through their estate. These donors are honored at an annual luncheon at which new members are presented with a membership certificate by the President of the university and the President of the Foundation.
